About the Role
The K–12 Investigator conducts fair, thorough, and trauma-informed investigations into allegations of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and other forms of misconduct within K–12 school environments.
This role requires strong analytical judgment, compassion, and an ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, administrators, and staff. You’ll ensure that investigations are conducted with procedural fairness, align with Title IX, Title VI, ADA/504, and applicable state laws, and maintain the highest standards of accuracy, neutrality, and professionalism.
K–12 investigators play a critical role in advancing district equity and compliance goals, helping schools strengthen trust, transparency, and accountability across their communities.
What You’ll Do
Conduct impartial investigations into reports of discrimination, harassment, bullying, retaliation, and other policy-based concerns.
Interview complainants, respondents, and witnesses using age-appropriate, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive methods.
Collect, review, and analyze evidence to establish findings of fact and assess credibility.
Draft clear, comprehensive, and defensible investigative reports consistent with federal and state standards.
Collaborate with school administrators, district counsel, and compliance officers to ensure alignment with policies and timelines.
Provide guidance on interim measures, supportive services, and resolution pathways.
Track and maintain case data using secure, confidential systems (e.g., Maxient, Case IQ, or i-Sight).
Identify procedural gaps and recommend improvements to strengthen district compliance practices.
Stay current with evolving laws and guidance related to K–12 Title IX, ADA/504, and civil rights obligations.
Who You Are
You have 4+ years of experience conducting K–12 investigations or serving in roles related to student discipline, compliance, or equity.
You have deep knowledge of Title IX, Title VI, ADA/504, and related federal and state regulations.
You demonstrate exceptional interviewing, writing, and analytical skills.
You have experience working with minors, parents, and educators in sensitive or complex situations.
You understand trauma-informed practices and apply them to every phase of your work.
You’re comfortable managing multiple cases simultaneously with accuracy and discretion.
You are proficient with digital documentation tools and case management systems.
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (J.D., M.Ed., M.A. in Education Policy or related field) preferred.
ATIXA, NACUA, AWI, or EEOC certification highly desirable.

Salary Range: $90,000–$118,000 annually (commensurate with experience)
