Onsite | Portland, Oregon | Full-Time | Non-Exempt

Fractional Coordinator, Inc. helps institutions move through complexity with clarity, building systems of fairness that protect both people and purpose. We partner with universities, K–12 districts, and mission-driven organizations to strengthen equity, compliance, and accountability infrastructure across education and the broader public sector.

We believe compliance isn’t just about meeting standards; it’s about shaping them. Our work connects policy, people, and institutional systems to create change that is sustainable, transparent, and built to last.

About the Role

The Public Policy & Government Liaison serves as a strategic connector between Fractional Coordinator and key stakeholders in education policy, government, and regulatory affairs. This role ensures the organization remains engaged with evolving legislative developments, public funding opportunities, and policy discussions that impact equity and compliance work across education and public service sectors.

You’ll track policy trends, build relationships with policymakers and advocacy groups, and position Fractional Coordinator as a thought leader on Title IX ADA/504, and governance modernization.

This role calls for a blend of diplomacy, strong research skills, and clear strategic communication. You’ll turn complex regulatory language into usable guidance for internal teams and external partners, helping connect policy development with real-world implementation.

What You’ll Do

  • Monitor federal and state policy developments related to education, equity, and compliance (Title IX, Title VI and ADA/504).

  • Develop position statements, policy briefs, and internal guidance to inform Fractional Coordinator’s strategy and services.

  • Serve as liaison between Fractional Coordinator and government agencies, advocacy organizations, and policy coalitions.

  • Coordinate meetings and briefings with policymakers, regulators, and institutional partners.

  • Identify and support grant, funding, and partnership opportunities aligned with organizational goals.

  • Collaborate with leadership to shape external communications and public engagement strategies.

  • Represent Fractional Coordinator at conferences, round tables, and public forums as a trusted subject-matter resource.

  • Support development of compliance best-practice tool kits and policy frameworks for client institutions.

Who You Are

  • You have 5+ years of experience in government relations, policy analysis, education administration, or advocacy.

  • You understand the legal and regulatory frameworks surrounding civil rights, higher education, and K–12 governance.

  • You’re a skilled communicator who can translate complex policies into clear, practical guidance that others can easily understand and apply.

  • You have experience cultivating relationships with policymakers, agency representatives, and community organizations.

  • You have excellent writing, research, and presentation skills.

  • You thrive in environments where collaboration and diplomacy are key to impact.

  • You are curious, well-organized, and motivated to strengthen the intersection between law, education, and governance.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in Public Policy, Law, or Education preferred.

What You’ll Gain

  • Salary Range: $95,000–$125,000 annually (commensurate with experience)

  • Remote-Friday Flexibility (Pacific Time Zone preferred)

  • Employer-Paid Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance

  • 401(k) with Employer Contributions after six months

  • Paid Vacation, Holidays, and Sick Leave

  • Professional Development Stipend for continuing education and certifications

  • Wellness Perks: onsite yoga and fitness classes, free daily lunch, coffee bar, and kombucha on tap at our Portland workspace
