What we do

Title IX and civil rights compliance audits

A structured review of your civil rights compliance program, measured against the standard a regulator, a court, or a complainant's counsel will eventually apply. You receive a written assessment and a prioritized plan.

What we review

Policy and procedures

Nondiscrimination policy, grievance procedures, and notices, checked against the rules that apply to your institution today.

Designations

Whether required coordinators are named, published, trained, and given the authority to act.

Case files

A sample of closed matters read for notice, timelines, supportive measures, neutrality, and whether the reasoning can be traced.

Records and retention

Where records live, whether they are complete, and whether they can be produced on request.

Training

Whether required training happened, for whom, on what content, and whether it is documented.

Reporting lines

Who knows what, when, and whether leadership receives information it can act on.

Frameworks in scope

Title IX

Sex discrimination and sex-based harassment, including grievance procedures and supportive measures.

Title VI

Race, color, and national origin, including shared ancestry and hostile environment obligations.

ADA and Section 504

Accommodations, program access, grievance procedures, and digital accessibility.

Clery Act

For higher education: annual security report content, crime statistics, and timely warnings.

How an audit runs

  1. Scope

We agree which frameworks, which offices, and which period of case files are in scope, and what the deliverable looks like.

  2. Document review and interviews

Policies, files, and records reviewed, with short interviews of the people who run the process.

  3. Written assessment

Findings by area, rated by exposure, with a prioritized remediation plan and the order we would work it in.

After the audit

Many institutions ask us to carry the remediation forward, either through a fractional coordinator seat or through targeted policy and training work. That is a separate decision, made after you have the assessment in hand.

Questions we get

How long does a compliance audit take?

It depends on how many frameworks and how many case files are in scope. We give you a timeline in writing at scoping.

Is the audit privileged?

It can be conducted through your counsel and reported to them. Whether privilege attaches depends on how the engagement is structured and on your counsel's judgment.

Do you audit PK-12 districts?

Yes. District audits typically cover Title IX, Title VI, and Section 504, and are priced on the PK-12 schedule.

Trust, operationalized

Work with us

Engagements begin with a scoping conversation. We look at the portfolio you are carrying, the exposure you are managing, and the seat you need covered, then we tell you plainly whether we are the right firm for it.
